Merry Christmas

My institute teacher showed us this clip as our Christmas message. It is very powerful. May we not forget that Christmas is about Christ. His birth and suffering made possible every person's salvation. I am grateful for the atonement and resurrection of Christ and the hope it brings to me. His gospel proclaims peace on earth and good will to men. I testify that it does bring everlasting peace and joy. Merry Christmas everyone.

The Youth Conservatory

I did it!! I survived midterms week! And I get to come home tomorrow and see all of my wonderful family and can't wait! Tonight I have a very large assignment to spend most of my day preparing for and running the annual USU Youth Piano Conservatory Halloween Recital and Carnival. The Youth Conservatory is the youth piano program that I teach for. I have many students playing in the recital and am anxious to see how they do. I have been teaching a lot more this year and I have just KNOWN without a doubt that this is what I'm meant to do. I love doing it and it fits with my personality just perfectly. I'm so grateful for the security it brings in knowing that I am on the right track for a career. I have 9 private students here in Logan, a group theory class I help teach and 2 private students in Salt Lake, one of them being my cute nephew Taylor who learns so fast! I feel lucky to have a flexible and fun job while going to school. I'll probably post more often on my adventures in teaching but in the meantime, enjoy this youtube video somebody made about the joy music teachers have in interacting with some parents. :) I hope you think it's funny, I sure do. But maybe that's because I encounter this all the time.

Hiatus is ENDED!!!

Yes, it's true. My 9 or so month hiatus is finally at a close and I figure that it is time that everyone knew what I was up to again. :)
Now that you're hopefully over the shock of seeing a post, I'll let you know I'm back living in Logan going to school studying piano performance. Currently the temperatures are in the mid-30's and it is lightly snowing. Yes, it's super cold already. I'm in my week of crazy midterms, which means 3 test and 2 big projects.
Saturday was the homecoming football game and I had been looking forward to it all week. We were playing Hawaii who is ranked number one in the nation for passing yardage and number two in the WAC. My thought was if we could hold them off offensively we might have a shot. Well, you have to understand that it was 40 degrees during the game and pouring freezing cold rain. I really wanted to be a good fan stay for the whole game but I was soaked through all 3 layers by the end of the third quarter and we were down 45-7 so I ended up leaving early. And now I'm nursing the symptoms of a cold. My main purpose in this post is just letting you know that I'm back on the blogging bandwagon!! You'll hear from me again very soon!

Confessions of a Shopaholic

Hi, my name is Emily and I am a shopaholic.
I have a problem. haha Just kidding! But really, over Christmas break I really felt like one. I bought 2 pairs of shoes, a pan, a journal, a piano book, 2 dresses, 8 movies, 4 CD's, and a book. When I am away at school spending money is a hard thing for me to do. I do not like to buy things unless I really need them or love them. And once I got my Christmas money, it took me 3 unfruitful shopping trips before I found reason to spend money. I have found that I have certain vices that I have a hard time resisting when I have money to spend. Shoes, of course (everyone knows I have a problem with that one), movies (this is a recent and horrible temptation), and music. Those are the main ones. I think if I admit that these things are hard to resist then they will get easier to do so. We'll see :)
