The Youth Conservatory

I did it!! I survived midterms week! And I get to come home tomorrow and see all of my wonderful family and can't wait! Tonight I have a very large assignment to spend most of my day preparing for and running the annual USU Youth Piano Conservatory Halloween Recital and Carnival. The Youth Conservatory is the youth piano program that I teach for. I have many students playing in the recital and am anxious to see how they do. I have been teaching a lot more this year and I have just KNOWN without a doubt that this is what I'm meant to do. I love doing it and it fits with my personality just perfectly. I'm so grateful for the security it brings in knowing that I am on the right track for a career. I have 9 private students here in Logan, a group theory class I help teach and 2 private students in Salt Lake, one of them being my cute nephew Taylor who learns so fast! I feel lucky to have a flexible and fun job while going to school. I'll probably post more often on my adventures in teaching but in the meantime, enjoy this youtube video somebody made about the joy music teachers have in interacting with some parents. :) I hope you think it's funny, I sure do. But maybe that's because I encounter this all the time.

I'm so glad you love what you are doing. I can tell how much you are progressing each time you come home and practice. I had no idea that music is so complex and technical. Your students are lucky to have such a great & gifted teacher that loves music.
